ADULT BEGINNERS CURLING CLINIC: TAKE YOUR BEST SHOT!! OCTOBER 14, 2018 1 – 4 PM Members please spread the word to friends, family and neighbors who may have an interest in curling and want to give it a try. Send them down to the curling rink on October 14th for a FREE learn to curl afternoon. Equipment is supplied but bring your clean indoor shoes and wear comfy pants with a warm but not too bulky jacket! During this afternoon you will have the opportunity to try curling with our qualified instructors and learn the basics of curling. OCTOBER 20, 2018: OPTIMISTS’ GETTING STARTED IN CURLING! A fun introduction for new and beginners curlers for ages 10 – 12ish! CURL BC NEWS: Kimberley Dennis is the new Education Coordinator for Curl BC. She is looking forward to helping clubs organize and deliver any coaching, officiating, or ice technician workshops throughout the upcoming season. There are a number of events happening around the Kootenay’s this fall that our members can take advantage of. Including the following events:
– Jet Ice Level 1 Technical in Cranbrook September 29th-30th facilitated by BJ Gagnon. This course will help develop any new staff members that your club may have for the upcoming season.
– Club Coach Workshop in Trail October 13th-14th facilitated by Karen Watson *this workshop is free for any female participants due to a leadForward grant. This course would benefit any members/volunteers that are helping your clubs with junior & learn to curl programs, giving them extra training, resources, and confidence.
– Competition Coach Workshop in Kimberley October 26th-28th Facilitated by Robbie Gallaugher. This would be ideal for any coaches working with teams going into playdowns this upcoming season.
