The purpose of “The Wild Chicken Spiel” is to provide a break in the January blues. Our committee of three, Sydnee Baylis, Kim Wilson and Gary Wilson in 2024 decided the format should be fun and inviting, but still somewhat competitive! This allows teams of all abilities to have a chance to play 5 games and have an opportunity to get into the finals against curlers at similar levels within the 5 events.
The teams participating are also encouraged to join in the fun by choosing chicken related names.
It is a point spiel, with 3 – 6 end games on Saturday, divided into two random divisions and seated based on the results of their 6 end games. Two teams end up in each event of the finals on Sunday, in A & B, C & D, then the Consolation event. These games are 8 end games and all finals win money, even the first team out wins rubber chickens. There is also a draw to the button contest, where 1st place this year won a gift certificate for $100 from Julio’s Lounge and the 2nd place finisher won a frozen chicken.
